Annual Dinner for a Cure a Huge Success!!
On
Saturday April 17, the Cheryl Chagnon Lymphoma Research
Fund, Inc. hosted their 3rd annual Dinner For a
Cure at the Natick Elks. This year’s dinner was attended by
over 200 guests. Dr. David Scadden and Dr. Ken Cohen where
present from Massachusetts General Hospital. The Cheryl
Chagnon Lymphoma Research Fund, Inc. presented Dr. Scadden
with a donation in the amount of $23,000 for research in
stem cells and bone marrow transplantation. This donation
was accompanied by an anonymous donation of $3,000 making
the entire donation of $26,000 the cost of funding this
important research which has entered the second stage of
trial for the next year.
The FDA gave approval for
this project a few weeks ago. Meetings with local regulatory
agency for the cancer center are under way and Massachusetts
General Hospital is just awaiting the formal go ahead.
We will continue to update on
the research as it progress. We hope to have pictures from
the lab related to this study once it is underway.
Items at the dinner included
art work donated by local artists and gallery’s. Overnight
stays at local area hotels. Sports pieces included,
autographed Boston Bruins Team Hockey stick, 2 baseballs one
autographed by Tim Wakefield and one autographed by Trot
Nixon. Photos of New England Patriot Daniel Graham former
Patriot Steve Grogan, Basketballs Bob Cousy, former Boston
Red Sox Roger Clemens, Trot Nixon, Autographed Cam Neeley
Hockey stick. Several pair of tickets to Boston Red Sox
games. Beautiful jewelry donated by local jewelers.
Jordan’s Furniture gift certificate. Dinner Gift
certificates from over 20 local restaurants.
This year’s dinner raised
over $14,000 for blood cancer research and improved
technology in the greater Boston Area. We will continue to
try to raise awareness for blood cancer.
